U.S. Mission in Brazil will take part at LAAD 2011 in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, April 8,  2011– The U.S. Mission in Brazil will take part at the LAAD – Defence & Security 2011 – the largest conference and international fair dedicated to the Latin American Armed Forces and defense industries. Between April 12-15, the event will gather 600 exhibitors, including 54 U.S. companies and 55 delegations from 53 countries.

The U.S. delegation will be lead by U.S. Ambassador to Brazil, Thomas Shannon, and will include representatives from the Department of Defense as well as U.S. companies from the defense sector – from equipment suppliers to service providers.

The opening ceremony of LAAD 2011 will be 10 am on April 12, at Riocentro, in Rio de Janeiro and it is open to press previously accredited. After the exhibit is opened, Ambassador Shannon and other representatives from the U.S. delegations will visit the booths of the U.S. companies.

The event was organized to receive a total of 24,000 visitors, including official representatives from the governments of Brazil and other countries as well as representatives from the Armed Forces and the aero sector and businessmen from the private sector.
