According to the Federal Prosecution Service (MPF), Silva was paid 1% kickbacks on Eletronuclear contracts signed with Andrade Gutierrez and Engevix construction firms to build Angra 3 nuclear plant in Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro. Twelve other people have been convicted for public fund embezzlement in the plant project, including Othon da Silva's daughter, Ana Cristina da Silva Toniolo. She was sentenced to 14 years and 10 months in prison under the same charges as her father's.
