"ROSOBORONEXPORT" AT LAAD-2007

The "Rosoboronexport" State Corporation is a sole state agent in the sphere of exporting and importing defense products in Russia. It is a structure, which is fully controlled by the State but at the same time possesses a certain economic independence.

Rosoboronexport" represents interests of more than 700 enterprises of the Russian defense industrial complex in the World market. In the year of 2006 volume of export through "Rosoboronexport" reached about $5.3 billion. At present the backlog has been filled nearly up to $21 billion. The Corporation has established mutually beneficial cooperation with more than 60 countries in the world. "Rosoboronexport" representatives have their offices in 44 foreign states.

"Rosoboronexport" has been expanding the list of export deliveries, offering wide-scale and complex defensive-and-technical solutions to its customers and using flexible payroll procedures. The Corporation has been paying serious attention to implementation of leasing procedures, offset programs, establishment of joint ventures, direct investments in various industrial spheres of the customer-countries, transfer of technologies.

Active and goal-oriented work on diversifying sales markets of the products manufactured by the national defense-industrial complex initiated by "Rosoboronexport" several years ago gave tangible results today in Latin America, where 7 permanent Representative offices exercise their activities.

Columbia, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela are the permanent partners of "Rosoboronexport" in the region. At the same time there is a stable tendency of expanding cooperation with the above-mentioned countries. Contacts with Argentine, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Peru have become considerably active lately.

"Rosoboronexport" has been actively participating in the biggest armament exhibitions held in Latin American region - Argentine, Brazil, Columbia, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela. LAAD holds a specific place among these exhibitions. This year under the aegis of "Rosoboronexport" 15 Russian defense enterprises will participate in the exhibition and display their products oriented at demands of both Brazil and other countries of Latin America.

"Rosoboronexport" demonstrates about 200 types of weapons and military materiel for all Armed Services and other Law enforcement structures in a form of models, mockups, booklets, posters and promotional videos.

The "Sukhoi" Company is the most well known for the Latin American audience among the Russian companies presented by "Rosoboronexport" at LAAD-2007. Its aircraft can be seen in various Latin American countries. The exposition shows the whole line of military aircraft of the company.

The Moscow Mil Helicopter plant - developer of helicopters from the most numerous family in the world - presents its next modification of the well-known in this region Mi-17 military transport helicopter, Mi-35M combat transport helicopter and Mi-28NE combat helicopter. Helicopter of the Mil brand are counted in hundreds in the region.

The line of the Russian aviation materiel is continued by the Ulan-Ude aviation plant - the only one in the country manufacturing both fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft: its exposition includes the Mi-171Sh air transport helicopter and Su-39 ground attack aircraft with the most up-to-date "Kopie (Spear)" radar sight complex.

No modern airplane can stand without optoelectronic systems, such as offered to the market by the "Ural optical-and-mechanical plant" Manufacturing association - a member of the combined Russian exposition. The plant's design bureau, which had celebrated its semicentenary in this March, developed over a hundred of optical-and-electronic instruments for aviation, medicine, geodetic surveying and lighting engineering.

Central design bureau of naval materiel from Saint Petersburg - developer of submarines - is a veteran of LAAD as well. Today "Rubin" together with "Admiralty shipyards" displays the most up-to-date developments - diesel-electric submarines of 636, 677E Projects ("Amur 1650") and "Amur 950". Principal peculiarities of "Amurs" are their quietness and big area of sonar system antennas as well as capability to deliver salvo missile strikes on warships and vessels. Weapons stock of submarine includes cruise missiles, universal torpedoes and mines.

The "Altair" Naval scientific-research institute of radioelectronics demonstrates powerful sea-based Air Defense weapons which can be installed both on the Russian and foreign warships: "Reef-M", "Shtil-1" and "Klinok" SAM systems, "Gibka" turret mount for "Igla"-type portable SAM systems.

"Poima-E", "Fregate" and "Podberezovik" radar systems made by the "Salyut" Moscow state enterprise expand the naval part of the Russian exposition.

For the first time at LAAD-2007 the modern "Buk-M2" Air defense missile system is displayed. It has unique tactical and technical characteristics. Air defense systems "Tor-M1" and "Pechora-2M" are accompanied by "Nebo-SVU" and "Gamma-DE" surveillance radars, as well as by "Podsolnukh-E" transhorizon radar.

Army materiel is represented by BTR-80A and BTR-90 armored personnel carriers as well as highly mobile GAZ-39371-221 army multipurpose vehicle made by the "Military-industrial company".

Technical training aids have been taking more and more significant position in the system of combat training lately. The "Kronshtadt R.E.T." Society presents helicopter and naval simulators, which by means of simulating the situation close to real one to maximum extent at the same time provide safety of trainees and significant fuel and service life saving. Simulators made by "Kronshtadt R.E.T." are successfully operated in dozens of world countries.

Association of space activities participants consisting of 6 Russian enterprises also presents a broad exposition.

Today LAAD celebrates its tenth anniversary. Starting from the first one in 1997 "Rosoboronexport hasn't missed any exhibition considering it to be the most important site to make Brazil and all Latin American military specialists acquainted with Russian military technologies as well as the most suitable place to set a long-term business cooperation.

"Rosoboronexport" congratulates the LAAD organizers on the first jubilee and invites all gests of the exhibition to visit combined Russian exposition deployed at booths No. C-48, C-50, A-34 and A-51.
