Temer sends letter of support to British government after attack

President Michel Temer wrote a letter to British Prime Minister Theresa May to offer his solidarity to the British people after the attacks on Wednesday (22 March), which led to four dead and 40 wounded. Police classified the incident as a terrorist attack.

"On behalf of the Brazilian people and government, and myself, I would like to extend to Your Excellency, and to all Londoners and Britons, our most heartfelt solidarity. Our thoughts turn, in particular, to the victims and their families”, said the president.

On the afternoon of Wednesday (22), a man brought a vehicle against a group of people who were close to the British Parliament building in London. The attacker then got out of the vehicle and stabbed a constable. After shots were fired, the suspect was shot by police.

In the document, the president stressed the importance of democratic governments to reject terrorist actions.

"Brazil joins the United Kingdom and all who share our conviction in the strength of democracy and reject any form of violent extremism," Temer said.
